City life

Here are a few random snap shots that I've taken over the past couple of weeks from outings with Z to grab some coffee at the Ferry Building, walking to get tortas y sopa over on 22nd & Bryant, or having some drinks with my cousin at one of our favorite dive bars.

Dog's Day Afternoon

Z's parents went on a quick trip to the east coast and we were in charge of dog-sitting their Half Lab / Half Golden Retriever, named Nico. Despite the obvious size difference, Nico and Finnegan are best friends and love to chase each other around in the backyard. Even though we were far from the city with its hustle and bustle, I did not mind suburbia escape because the weather was nice and warm. I am so used to always leaving the  apartment with a sweater, coat, and tights that I forget what it's like without all these layers to keep myself warm. I spent the weekend reading, relaxing, record store browsing, and thrift store shopping. Such a perfect weekend, if you ask me!

artMRKT

A couple of weekends ago, Z and I got a chance to stop by artMRKT at the Concourse Exhibition Center in SOMA and viewed work being displayed by galleries from all over the United States. With a fair portion of the art priced between several hundred to many thousands of dollars, SOMA seemed the appropriate setting with its gleaming skyscrapers and parvenu savor. The pictures below are just some of the multitudinous volume of  work at artMRKT.

Broken Love by Grisha Briskin

Cirrosa by artist Jessica Drenk who transforms familiar objects into patterns seen in nature.

Margaret Keelan’s uncanny sculpture Dancer in Red Dress

This last picture is one of my favorites. What may seem like some ubiquitous  American Flag artwork was actually small items (scissors, swiss army knives, lighters, etc.) that have been confiscated from various airline travelers. There were definitely some completely random items! Yay America!

Rushin' the Russian River

I love living in San Francisco, but sometimes I need to take a break from city life and explore that the Bay Area has to offer. Never having been to the Russian River, Z managed to find a good deal for a weekend retreat at a Bed & Breakfast. The trip included free wine tasting at the local wineries and a complementary dinner at the Bed & Breakfast's restaurant.  I loved getting away...even if it was just for a little bit. Below are some photos of our trip:

I want to come back and visit again in the summer! There's just something about the plethora of trees and wide open space that is so beautiful.

Floral and Fauna

Hello Blog! Sorry I've neglected you for so long. I just haven't been sure if I wanted to just aggregate everything onto my tumblr or here at blogspot. I'm still debating since I don't really have a means of snapping photos daily with digital (besides my phone) since all the cameras in my possession are film ones!  I've been doing well these past couple of months with the new internship, new job possibilities, and Mom's last chemo session!  It has also been quite lovely in San Francisco the past couple of days. Last weekend, Z and I went to a coffee shop down the street from our apartment and enjoyed the people watching. Afterwards, we had dinner at El Metate where I got some horchatta that I had been craving. Along the way, I found a floral crown that someone did not want and decided to keep it. Hey! It's new to me at least.  Above is a shot of what I wore and surprisingly it was warm enough that day because I am not wearing tights!
