Tan Eyelet Dress // Forever 21
Awkward Posing with Self-Timer // Priceless

Finally finished packing late last night! I think I have a problem with over packing, but come on! I really do need to bring 15+ dresses with me... I think it's better to be prepared for anything, right? Leaving for a mini East Coast vacation. BRB in 2 weeks, ya'll.

Blue Angel

Outfit Details:
Angel Blue Dress // The White Pepper
Tights // ASOS
Woven Oxford Flats // Etsy
Vintage Market Bag // Etsy
Sunglasses // H&M
Black Opal Ring // H&M

I received this Angel dress from The White Pepper a couple of weeks ago after oohing and aahhing over their clothing in my past blog post.  The dress is really comfortable and easy to throw on when you just want to get out the door. The elastic in the bell-sleeves allow me to push them up when I'm doing something which is pretty convenient. If I could, I would make this dress into my uniform because you can dress up / dress down the look due to the simplicity of the dress' design. I just wish that it did not wrinkle so easily because I absolutely hate ironing! I plan on taking it with me on vacation because I think it will be the perfect beach cover up for Z and I's vacation coming up in...whoa...2 days! I'm pretty excited to leave for our trip! We'll be visiting New York, Philadelphia, and Maryland. Does any one have recommendations on places to check out or restaurants to eat at?

Outfit Details:
Cropped Tan Top // Forever21
90's Printed Pinafore // Flashback in San Diego
Green Woven Shoes // Painted Bird

Day to Night. These were my outfits during the day when Z and I were running errands and then at night when we went to grab dinner and a couple of drinks. I kept the same crop top in both outfits since it's a nice neutral color that will go with anything. The weather in San Francisco can go from sunny and mildly warm to chill winds and foggy nights. I find that it is best to layer clothing when going from venue to venue, so that it's easy to adjust. I'm excited to visit my Mom and Sister this weekend because they are actually having weather that is characteristic of summer. Here's to not wearing tights and coats when going out this weekend!

Night-timing

Outfit Details:
Plaid Song Bird Dress // Madewell
Maroon Wool Cardigan // Vintage
Dead-stock Golden Barrettes (flowers and scrolls) // Lawrence

Z isn't always here to help me photograph so I've decided to try the self-timer on my Minolta. It's a bit hard for me to get it to focus right since I can't see it, but I guess my awkward expressions can be blurred out for the better. My go-to dress thus far has been Madewell's Plaid Songbird Dress. It is just so comfortable, is a good length, and fits me perfectly. I found this maroon cardigan at Thrift town a couple of weeks ago. I really liked the suede arrow detailing along the front because it looks hand-stitched...pretty good for a cardigan that only cost me $1.50!  The dead-stock barrettes I am wearing are probably the only things keeping me from trimming my bangs again! It's getting easier to clip my bangs to the side now instead of them flinging out every which way they please.

I'm going down to Southern California to visit my Mom and Sister tomorrow for the weekend. Z and I are going to drop off Finnegan since we'll be off to the east coast for a couple of weeks. I can't wait for some sun and warmer weather!

It's All Good in the Neighborhood!

I found an old disposable camera while cleaning up around the apartment. Z and I decided to snap some photos around our neighborhood while out on a trip to get some Mission Mini's (cupcakes) and coffee. I love film and how you have to think about each photo in regards to the lighting and the framing. Each photo seems a bit special because more thought went into its composition. But seriously...I just love the way that film looks. Instant time travel!

We stopped by a thrift shop on Mission and I found this beautiful vintage hat that I immediately wore for the rest of the day. I tried to imagine what kind of lady this hat once belonged to and what kind of occasion she might wear it for. Z just laughs at me and my admiration for "hip granny style" items.

The skirt I am wearing was altered from an ankle length one. My mom showed me how to cut off the excess fabric and hem it into my desired length. Even though my sewing skills are still in dire need of practice and supervision, I love this skirt. It is one of my favorite skirts that I tend to wear as default on days I can't think of anything to wear.  Thanks Mom!

Little Velvet Dress

A few of my favorite vintage shops in San Diego are located in Hillcrest. It was there, while satisfying a craving for gyros and fries and checking out Z's favorite record store, that I found this little half cotton half velvet mini dress. It's one of my favorite dresses since it's so soft and comfortable to wear. Since San Francisco basically only has one season, I can wear this dress practically all year round. Yay!

Polka Dots and Mermaid Hair

When I was a little girl, my mom used to try all these different hair styles on me. I went from having long straight hair to permed bangs (yes! my bangs were the only part that was permed so I looked similar to a French poodle) to the typical Asian short bob with bangs to a boyish pixie-do. I won't ruin your evening by posting these awful photos, but let's just say that my mom has excellent blackmailing material if she would ever like to do so. Now that I've reclaimed my hair, I just want to grow it long like a mermaid.  It's taken sometime to achieve this, but my hair is finally long enough! I can go out in public with my hair as a shirt? Sweet and scandalous.

Dresses vs. Pants

Z's little cousin from Maryland once asked me why I always wear dresses. I had not really thought about that until I tried to count all the pants that I had in my closet. I think I own about 3 pairs of pants in total! I can never really feel quite as comfortable wearing pants/jeans as when I am prancing around in a dress. By wearing dresses, I feel like I don't have to think as much as when I am pairing tops with bottoms in the morning before rushing out the door for work. Even though I have a weakness for girly dresses, I love to match them with masculine shoes/purses or other menswear inspired accessories.
